One man's food is another man's poison. Your reality is my myth. The sudden, unexpected appearance of acne is somewhat mythical. You just don't understand its way of functioning. And whenever you are unable to understand something and you are unable to get at the root of its happening, you attribute certain strange characteristics to it. And the same is true for acne myths.
Can two walk together except they agree upon walking? The scientists and the believers are generally opposed to each other. These are the two contending forces. These are the two opposing forces. As far as acne is concerned, the same rule applies.

Myth 1: Diet:
It is believed that diet has a major role to play in worsening or improving the acne situation, wherein dermatologists simply refute this. As per dermatologists you can eat whatever you want to, you can take as many chocolates as you wish. But the popular belief goes heavily against this.
Myth 2: Washing
The second myth is about washing the affected area. Wash your face or the affected area as many times as you feel, says the myth mongers. Because they believe that washing helps the cause.
But the fact is blemishes are not formed by dirt. The skin pores do not get blocked in the way most people think. Collapsing of pores occurs from within and never from top down. And this is what is responsible for acne process.
Going by the proven facts, excessive washing can give negative results and cause acne condition to worsen. Do not use a flannel for washing but only the bare hands.
Myth 3: Stress
Let stress not be the reason for your future breakouts. No, it has nothing to do with your acne conditions. Acne and stress are poles apart. Do you have acne every time you have stress?
If this is not true, you can't say that when you have stress, you have acne. Don't carry the guilty conscious that your stress is responsible for your acne. If stress is the reason for acne when you have to pay heavy income tax annually, you should have acne, along with millions of others!
Myth 4: Exposure to Sun
The all powerful yet benevolent sun is also drawn into the controversy. Some firmly believe that the warm rays of the sum will help them to mitigate the suffering on account of spots and pimples. But the scientists say that exposure to the sun will damage your cause further.
Myth 5: Communicable or non communicable?
Some believe that acne is contagious. In reality, it is not. It is a non-communicable disease. You are also advised to leave acne to its fate. It will come and it will go. But the fact is that acne can be treated and it will strike you irrespective of age bar. It is foolish to leave it without treatment.
The reality of the situation is millions suffer from acne, at any given time. Some gossip about it and there arises a rumor. The rumor becomes thick rumor, when it goes through several rounds. The thick rumor becomes a myth!
